SriLankan Airlines has announced an increase in its flight frequency to Addu City’s Gan International Airport, starting December 19.

According to SriLankan Airlines’ agent in the Maldives, Ace Aviation’s Managing Director, Mohammed Firaq, who shared the information with “Voice”, the airline will operate three weekly flights to Addu starting December 19, on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Tuesdays, up from the current two flights per week.

Firaq explained that the primary aim of this expansion is to enhance travel opportunities for passengers from diverse international destinations to Addu City.

As the oldest international airline providing continuous service to Maldives, SriLankan Airlines has been a key connector for the region.

The Maldives’ Ministry of Tourism highlighted that flight frequencies to various parts of the country are expected to increase as the peak tourist season approaches.

Sri Lanka remains a significant destination for Maldivians, both as a residence and for frequent travel.

This move not only supports the Maldives’ thriving tourism industry but also provides greater convenience for Maldivians who frequently travel to Sri Lanka for residence, business, and leisure.
