Sri Lanka has welcomed 109,199 tourists up to October 2023, taking the total so far to 1.125 million, data from the state tourism office showed.
Sri Lanka was targeting 1.5 million tourists and later said about 2.0 million may come based on trends seen earlier in the year.
The October arrivals was slightly below the September number of 111,938, but sharply up from last year when a currency crisis and power fuel shortages reduced visitors to 29,802.
India was the top source market generating 28,222 (26 percent) of visitors, the Russian Federation came second with 10,629 (10 percent) and the UK 8,454.
German tourists were 7,548 in October and China was 6,211.
