Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers had given the approval to call for expressions of interests from private investors to develop Galle Port as a leisure and commercial port as a public private partnership (PPP), Minister Bandula Gunawardana said.

The private party will have to invest on a breakwater, sea wall, deep passenger anchorage, channel and land filling.

Mixed development projects would be set up on the filled land, he said.

The PPP would be on a build operate transfer basis
