Sri Lanka is to host the first of a series of international music shows between the three countries Sri Lanka, Canada and Malaysia featuring Indian musicians, tourism minister Harin Fernando said.
“Deva, Hariharan, Murali, Krishnaraj, Shrikanth, Anuradha, Ajayakrishna, Pooja, Alka, Ajith, Mano, Sathyaprakash, Divakar and other popular artistes are scheduled to perform,” Fernando said in a Facebook post on Thursday (23).
Fernando said more than 2,000 foreign tourists are expected to attend the concert in addition to local fans.
Sri Lanka Tourism’s Priyantha Fernando said that tourist arrivals are estimated to exceed 1.5 million in 2023.
However, Advocata said that the proposed minimum room rates will place Sri Lanka’s tourist industry at a disadvantage and harm its image as a cost-effective tourist destination.
The proposal aims to impose a hundred-dollar minimum room rate on five-star hotels, seventy-five dollars for four-star hotels and fifty dollars for three-star hotels.
