Sri Lanka seeks major tourism boost from China

Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando participated as the chief guest at the “Guangzhou International Travel Fair” which opened on Friday (19).

Mayoress of Guangzhou also participated in the event, which is considered as the main tourism exhibition held in Southern China.

Via a Facebook post, the Minister said that before the Covid 19 pandemic, out of all
Tourist arrivals from China, 3rd most number of tourists arrived from the city of Guangzhou.

During the fair, the Minister has also held discussions with vice President of China Southern Airlines to resume flight services to Sri Lanka starting July/August this year.

The Minister has also participated in several interviews with many Chinese print and electronic media, including China’s popular CCTV television channel.

About 20 organizations engaged in the tourism industry participated in the travel fair representing Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has handled the complete organizing tasks on behalf of Sri Lanka.(NewsWire)
