Riverston boasts captivating attractions such as Sera Ella, Duvili Ella, and Bambarakiri Ella waterfalls, alongside Pitawala Pathana, famed as Mini World’s End. The area is enriched by the unique landscapes of traditional paddy fields, the Manigala Mountain Range, and Walpolamulla, reputedly Asia’s smallest village. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Knuckles area further enhances Riverston’s appeal with its biodiversity and cultural significance.

Addressing the rising demand for accommodations, Mr. Induruwage emphasized the role of homestays as a viable solution. By converting historic homes into visitor lodging, Riverston can offer authentic cultural experiences that integrate traditional agriculture, local cuisine, and community life.

Through skill development and micro-entrepreneurship programs, these communities can thrive while preserving their cultural heritage. KTC aims to expand these initiatives across Rattota, Atanwala, Pitawala, and Illukkumbura, promoting tourism that supports and sustains local livelihoods.
