Tawfeeq Travel, one of the largest travel management and promotion corporate in Qatar, has come up with a pledge of USD 3 million to invest in the tourism and hospitality sector in Sri Lanka, said State Tourism Minister, Diana Gamage.

Speaking to ‘Daily News Business’ she said that Tawfeeq Travel Qatar has pledged an investment of USD 3 million immediately to the sector to be invested through the State Tourism Ministry. She said that Tawfeeq Travel in bid to attract high end tourists to Sri Lanka has also promised to bring one million of high end tourists from the Middle East region to Sri Lanka within next 24 months.

The CEO of Tawfeeq Travel of Qatar, Syed Rehan Ali said that there is a consortium of investors keen to involve in leisure projects. “In addition there is also enthusiasm especially by expats in Qatar to visit Sri Lanka.” (SS)
