National Geographic has highlighted the Pekoe Trail, a new hiking experience in Sri Lanka’s hill country, in its Top 20 Travel Experiences for 2024.
This trail, stretching nearly 200 miles, follows the historic footsteps of tea planters from Kandy, providing a unique journey through hill towns and tea estates.
Visitors can fully immerse themselves in the island’s tea culture, participate in cooking classes, and enjoy Ceylon tea along the way.
Funded by the European Union with support from USAID, the trail is being implemented by the US non-profit organization Improving Economies for Stronger Communities (IESC).
