The highly anticipated Sri Lanka Tourism App, the first national app developed for the sector, will be launched as an information application by September this year.
According to Gajabahu, 70 percent of the app has been completed. The soft launch within the next two months will mark the first phase of implementation.
Initially anticipated to go live by the end of March, the app’s release was delayed due to the integration of additional features and facilities. The development of the app is partly funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
“Right now, it’s an information app, but we need to bring more interaction to it because a lot has evolved, such as AI and chatbot tools, since the recruitment schemes were done about two and a half to three years ago. So, we are now in the process of adding those as well. We will first launch it as an information app and then add the remaining features quickly,” Gajabahu added.
