Five institutions selected to operate currency exchange counters at BIA

The Cabinet has approved the awarding of contracts to five institutions for the operation of currency exchange counters in the area designated for Customs purposes at the arrival lounge of the Katunayake Airport.

As per the cabinet decision taken in January 2024, the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited invited limited competitive bidding to operate currency exchange counters at the arrival lounge of the Bandaranaike International Airport.

According to the government, 05 bids had been forwarded for this purpose.

The Cabinet has approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation to award the contracts to the selected institutions for 3 years on the recommendation of the Technical Evaluation Committee and Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet after evaluation of the said bids.

The contracts are to be awarded to the following institutions:

Counter No 1 Sampath Bank PLC

Counter No 2 People’s Bank

Counter No 3 Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC

Counter No 4 Thomas Cook Lanka (Pvt) LTD

Counter No 5 Bank of Ceylon
