Chongqing resumes direct flights

Chongqing Airlines, headquartered in Chongqing, China, has resumed direct nonstop flights between Chongqing and Colombo as of Monday, 24 June.

The inaugural flight, OQ2393, arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at 1450 hrs with 78 passengers, marking its return with a celebratory water cannon salute. Passengers were greeted by a traditional Kandyan dance performance organised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and received tea gift packs from the Sri Lanka Tea Board.

According to the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt.) Limited (AASL), there will be three weekly flights connecting Chongqing and Colombo. Acorn Aviation (Private) Limited serves as the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Chongqing Airlines in Sri Lanka.

The resumption of Chongqing Airlines’ operations is expected to bolster tourist arrivals and enhance economic ties encompassing trade, investment, finance, education, and cultural exchanges between China and Sri Lanka.
