The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has announced ambitious plans to promote the country as a leading travel destination through roadshows across India, China, and several European countries in early 2025.

According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), promotional activities began in January 2025, including global endorsements, hosting international media and influencers, and participating in prestigious travel fairs worldwide.

SLTPB Marketing Director Dushan Wickramasuriya highlighted the campaign’s success, stating, “We achieved 2,053,000 tourist arrivals in 2024 and are targeting three million for 2025. The momentum is strong, and we are building on this progress.”

Sri Lanka will actively participate in leading international travel events such as ITB Berlin, South Asia’s Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE), Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) in India, and Fitur in Spain. These events will facilitate Business-to-Business (B2B) opportunities for local tourism stakeholders to engage with international counterparts.

SLTDA and SLTPB Chairman Buddhika Hewawasam also announced the upcoming launch of a national branding campaign designed to enhance Sri Lanka’s global image as a must-visit travel destination. The campaign is expected to be finalized shortly.

This comprehensive promotional effort underscores Sri Lanka’s commitment to attracting millions of visitors and positioning itself as a top choice for global travelers.
