Chongqing Airlines will restart flights to Colombo on January 8, 2024. The airline will operate three weekly flights on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with a stopover in Male. This schedule connects passengers conveniently to other airlines.
These flights mark the first and only direct service between Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and Bandaranaike International Airport. They aim to boost cultural, investment, and tourism exchanges between Sri Lanka and Southwest China.
China is Sri Lanka’s fourth-largest source market, contributing 121,757 tourists so far this year. The resumption of Chongqing Airlines’ services is expected to increase these numbers and strengthen bilateral relations.
Modern Airbus A320neo aircraft will serve these routes, offering three cabin classes: Business, Premium Economy, and Economy. Chongqing Airlines, a joint venture between the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and China Southern Airlines, has established a solid operational base in Chongqing.
The airline provides access to over 50 domestic destinations in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Hubei, Yunnan, and Fujian. Travelers can explore Chongqing, often called the “Magical 8D Chongqing,” or connect smoothly to other major cities. Chongqing Airlines ensures comfortable and efficient travel for all passengers.
