Due to security measures taken by the Go Bungy team, the Lotus Tower Bungee jumping is to commence only after 3 months of time, following the construction of the ramp, The Daily Morning Business learns.

Speaking to The Daily Morning Business, Colombo Lotus Tower Management Company Private Limited Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Major General (Retd) Prasad Samarasinghe said: “The structure of the Lotus Tower is not plausible and safe for bungee jumping. Therefore, the Singaporean company, engineers from Japan and our engineers have together come up with a solution to this problem.”

He pointed out that they have finalised the construction of a platform to jump. Moreover, the construction team is currently in Sri Lanka to commence the construction.

It will take a period of around 3 months for the construction because the raw material should be carried up and down 243 metres, explained Maj. Gen. Samarasinghe.

Additionally, the Lotus Tower management is not spending on the ramp construction. It is, in fact, an investment done from the Go Bungy company.

Samarasinghe stated that Bungee jumping will run in a profit sharing model that will be in dollars. The Lotus Tower will get 20% for each jump and the Go Bungy company will be getting 80% as they are the investors of this particular project.

Go Bungy is a Singapore based company. They are a company who are bungee jumping specialists in Canada, China and Japan. Therefore, once the ramp is constructed they will bring in their clientele to Sri Lanka as well.

The bungee jumpers go from one country to another country and perform bungee jumping.

In 2022, The Colombo Lotus Tower and the Singapore-based Go Bungy signed a contract to start bungee jumping from the 350-metre-high Colombo Lotus Tower from 1 January 2023.

Although they intended to begin by this August, they had to postpone since the sky ramp needed to be repaired and they will begin by the end of this year.

Moreover, they are planning to bring down 10,000 foreigners per annum and they have about 50,000 jumpers all over the world, with Bungee Japan, Bungee Nepal, Bungee Canada who have signed the agreements with Go Bungy.
