Lotus Tower sees over 1.6 m locals and 60,000 tourists

Since the opening of the Colombo Lotus Tower 15 months ago, it has recorded over 1.6 million local visits and over 60,000 tourist visits, according to the Colombo Lotus Tower Management Company.

Speaking to The Sunday Morning Business, Colombo Lotus Tower Management Company Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Major General (Retd) Prasad Samarasinghe revealed that according to their records, over the 15-month period from 15 September 2022, when the tower was officially opened, to date, it had seen over 1.6 million visits by locals and over 60,000 tourist visits.

He also stated that the recently-opened revolving restaurant in the Lotus Tower Blue Orbit had in particular proved to be a hit among all visitors. “Since opening, it has been full every day. Both lunch and dinner services with 225 pax have been fully booked every day,” he stated.

Commenting further, he stated that Lotus Tower had become a popular site to host musical shows, weddings, and various other events, adding that these participants were not accounted for in the visitor statistics listed above.

He also revealed that the digital art museum, the Aqua Bay, and the kids’ play area would become operational from March.

The Colombo Lotus Tower is the tallest self-supported structure in South Asia and the tallest skyscraper in the country and measures up to 356 m in height. The Lotus Tower was constructed at a cost of approximately $ 113 million. A Chinese company granted $ 88.65 million, while the rest was borne by the Sri Lankan Government.
