Sri Lanka’s exceptional efforts in mangrove conservation have led to it being honored with the prestigious title of UN World Restoration Flagship.

Recognized for its adept utilization of UN Principles for Ecosystem Restoration, the nation serves as a global model.

The aftermath of the tsunami devastation underscored the vital roles of mangroves.

Sri Lanka committed to strengthening coastal ecosystems in 2015, resulting in the establishment of expert panels, policies, and youth involvement in a comprehensive restoration approach.

This accomplishment will be celebrated with the receipt of the UN Flagship Restoration Award at the United Nations Environmental Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya on 27 February.
