Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Chaminda Ranasinghe has announced the introduction of a contributory pension scheme for individuals working in the tourism sector this year.
In response to a question by SJB MP Hesha Withanage in Parliament today (5), the Deputy Minister also revealed plans for a social welfare program to support tourism workers.
The Government is currently identifying 100 tourist attractions for development, with Rs. 10 million allocated per site to improve basic facilities.
Accordingly, rest centers for tourists will be constructed to further enhance the tourism experience.
