Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka have crossed the 70,000 mark within the first 9 days of December, provisional data from Sri Lanka Tourist Development Authority (SLTDA) showed.
The island nation welcomed a total of 70,944 international visitors, a 22 percent growth when compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
accordingly, the daily arrival average currently stands at 7,800.
India stands as the largest tourist traffic generator, accounting for 16.6 percent of the total tourist arrivals. In second place is the Russian Federation that contributed to 16.4 percent of the total tourist arrivals. While the United Kingdom ranks as the third largest source for Sri Lanka tourism, bringing in 7.8 percent of the total arrivals, Germany follows closely behind, accounting for 7.1 percent of the arrivals.
Other key markets include Australia, France, China, United States, Netherlands, and Poland.
