Singapore Tops 2025 Henley Passport Index; Sri Lanka Rises to 96th Place

Singapore has reclaimed its position as the world’s most powerful passport. It secured the top spot on the 2025 Henley Passport Index with visa-free access to 195 out of 227 destinations. Singapore outshines Japan, which ranks second with access to 193 destinations. The Index ranks 199 passports globally and uses exclusive Timatic data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Japan has made a significant recovery, regaining visa-free access to China for the first time since the Covid-19 lockdowns.

Sri Lanka Rises in Global Rankings

Sri Lanka has shown notable improvement, climbing to 96th place in the 2025 Index alongside Iran and South Sudan. Citizens of Sri Lanka now enjoy visa-free access to 44 countries.

This development reflects steady progress for Sri Lanka. The nation ranked 100th in 2023 and 102nd in 2022, highlighting its growing international connectivity.

The Henley Passport Index continues to serve as a key benchmark for global mobility, offering valuable insights into travel opportunities worldwide.
